The penultimate bulletin on our 2023/2024 trip to Australia. In this episode we venture to Melbourne Zoo and Point Leo.
Yes, the mighty giraffe. There’s a bunch of them in Melbourne Zoo and they appeared to be in really excellent condition. Very attractive mammals. I have already posted a series of articles about the 2023/2024 trip to Australia (Australia 2024: Melbs, Australia 2024: Point Lonsdale and Points Beyond and Australia 2024: Zoo & Art) and they probably give lots more context but frequent visitors will know that I am partial to film photography with classic Minolta manual SLRs. I shot a couple of rolls of Kenmare PAN1oo while I was there, so let’s have a look.

Yep, you are right. That’s me at the Marconi memorial at Point Lonsdale. No mistaking it. I’m at the very spot where, on the 12th of July, 1906, the first wireless overseas (to Tasmania) messages were sent by staff of the Marconi company. Point Lonsdale may be a posh neighbourhood but this is a public monument. You don’t even need to pay.

Against all odds, we spent Christmas 2023 in Australia. Thanks to an embarrassment of air-miles and generous parents I knocked off work and got on a plane December 20th.

Continue reading “Australia 2024: Melbs”So I finally got around to processing the last roll of film from the Barcelona trip and I must say I was pleased. This is a roll of Kentmere 100 PAN and I like the grainy, dreamy effect it gives.
So here we are in Barcelona’s Gothic district. It’s a region of ancient buildings, narrow lanes, heavy tourism and cheap smack.
