Ahhh, nothing like a good coup to keep things interesting. They had it on deadline night, so we had to change the cover and rush out a story. Fun times, I must write it up as a story one day. Those of you with good eyesight will notice that the masthead is a bit grainy on this one, as it the cover, which is a shame as I shot it.
Untamed Travel Magazine November 2006
I’m not a big fan of this cover and I’m allowed to say that as I shot it. It was at the buffalo races and we didn’t have much else that month. The ‘free trombone’ starburst was Cameron’s idea of a joke — there was no trombone inside.
Untamed Travel Magazine December 2006
I think it is this issue that’s missing loads of images so sorry if it looks a bit naff.
Untamed Travel Magazine January 2007
FARANG Untamed Travel Magazine’s penultimate issue. We skipped February because we couldn’t afford the print bill. This issue features one of my favourite Bartipping pieces, A Whiff of Hops, which I completed with Editor in Chief, Cameron Cooper, no relation.
Untamed Travel Magazine March 2007
A former colleague of mine asked for her stories from our days at FARANG Untamed Travel. Scanning the stories from the print editions is a massive pain and I recently acquired an Adobe InDesign license so I can finally convert the old design files I’ve been hanging into for going on 20 years.
You’ll find the result below in WordPress’ cumbersome embedded file format, I’d recommend just downloading it. Sadly there are missing fonts and some grainy photos where the high-res version has been lost but that’s life.
Sadly, this was the last issue to come out of Toolbox Media and it was a rapid slide into bankruptcy next. I recall my final pay was half in cash and half in office furniture, some of which still serves me today.
